Mt. Riley Hike As a team, learn how to manage the risks for the peaks you are climbing in your life Planning for the hike starts the evening before with the team doing a risk management plan to manage the risks of hiking Mt. Riley. As a team, you develop the objectives of your hike, and the risks you could face. The team develops and implements a risk management plan to ensure the safe return of every team member to Alaska Learning Adventures. Each team is given a budget of “cheetah dollars” for climbing the mountain. They can rent all the supplies they need to climb Mt. Riley with their “Cheetah Dollars.” There are mandatory supplies they need to get and optional supplies they can get based on their objectives and the results of their risk management plan. Mount Riley is a 1,760 foot high point on the Chilkat Peninsula. The trip also can be modified to a shorter, easy side trip to the Chilkoot Inlet coast at Kelgaya Bay or to Lily lake. Special features: forest hikes and great views from the summit. Learn about the flora and fauna of the area and maybe get a glimpse of a bald eagle in flight. |
